Finch
Files Online
is an electronic compilation of my finch-related experiences,
practices, research, conclusions, and theories. These documents
are shared here in the belief that exchanging knowledge and
ideas is the best way to advance the hobby.
Finch
Files is organized into several different topics.
Each topic is accessible via the menu to the left. The documents
in each section are divided into four different types of files:
Procedures,
Notes, Case Files,
and Essays.
Procedures
are detailed instructions explaining how I do a specific
finch-related task.
Notes
are my conclusions and theories based on my personal research,
discussions with aviculturists and veterinarians and others,
and personal experience. They describe my current view of
the topic. These views may not necessarily be correct and
I may change my views as my information changes. If you decide
to incorporate any of my ideas and practices into your own
routine, you do so at your own risk, assuming responsibility
for the outcome - good or bad.
Case
Files are the details of a specific event (such
as an illness in a bird or a breeding experience with a specific
pair). These case files are primarily factual accounts of
actual events, but they may include a Conclusion section where
I speculate on aspects of the situation.
Essays
include my thoughts on various avicultural topics. They express
my opinions and philosophies and are more conceptual than
practical in nature.
The information
presented on this site is based on my experiences. My experiences
are not necessarily representative of the rest of the finch
fancier population. One should always seek multiple points
of view as there are many variables involved in aviculture.
This is not a definitive guide - just a single piece of a
puzzle that has few boundaries.
